Like many Americans, I became entangled with all of the controversy surrounding the November election. Even in Christian circles there is strife and division still going on. I watched President Obama's Farewell Speech last night, and I watched President-Elect Trump's press conference this morning.
I am speaking to my soul to cause it to line up with God's Word. I thought I would share.
First, and foremost, God's Word is Truth John. 17:17
My feelings are not Truth.
The news is not Truth.
Facts are facts, and Truth is Truth, and sometimes they are different.
In Bible times there was no such thing as presidents, there were only kings and rulers. These verses, these truths, are being looked at with presidents in mind.
Exodus 22:28 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
8 “You must not blaspheme God[a] or curse a leader among your people.
That one is pretty obvious. Curse does not mean overtly swearing at or putting a curse on someone, it can be a simple as hoping they will fail, or withholding a blessing.
21 He changes the times and seasons;
He removes kings and establishes kings.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those
who have understanding.
He removes kings and establishes kings.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those
who have understanding.
1 Peter 2:17Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the Emperor.(In this case, the President!)
As I live in Christ, obeying God, loving God, loving my neighbor and praying for those in authority, I will be about the King's business and my emotions will not have the rule over me.
